Read 1 Chronicles 17
Think About It:
- David’s desire was to build a temple for God. God rejected David as the temple builder but—He promises him an eternal home. (See verses 10-14.) Why couldn’t David build it? (See 1 Chronicles 8:22.)
- How do you respond when someone else gets to fulfill your desire? Would you be able to pray as David did about the promise God made to him? (verses 16-27)
Family Time:
- At first, Nathan tells David to build the temple, but then he tells him not to. Why?
- How do you think David would feel about the change of direction?
- Read 1 Chronicles 17:10-14 again. How do you think David thought about the promise mentioned here?
