Read 2 Kings 13
Think About It:
The chapter starts with the kingship of Jehoaham, King of Israel and the words, “and he did evil in the sight of the Lord”. It ends with his son Jehoash who also “did evil in the sight of the Lord.” Since the book of 2 Kings go back and forth between the kings of Israel and the kings of Judah, it may be helpful to know that ALL of the kings of Israel did evil in the sight of the Lord. As for the kings of Judah, only 5 actually followed the laws of the Lord. One started evil but ended good, and two started good but didn’t completely end that way.
- Are you determined to finish well whatever the cost?
Family Time:
- Why did God keep Israel under the power of Hazael king of Aram and Ben-Hadad his son, for so long?
- If things weren’t going well, would you keep things the way they are, or would you change them?
- If the king had continued shooting until Elisha said to stop, Israel would have defeated Aram completely. Since he didn’t, Israel would have only 3 victories over them. What can we learn from this?
