Read 1 Kings 22
Think About It:
It seems Micaiah’s response in verse 15 was said sarcastically because Ahab the King of Israel knew immediately it was a false statement. In verse 19 Micaiah begins to tell him the truth. The truth landed him in prison, but his words came true.
- How truthful are you when the situation could have a difficult end?
Family Time:
- Ahab, King of Israel, asked Jehoshaphat, King of Judah, for help with what? (verse 4a) What was King Jehoshaphat’s reply? (verses 4b & 5)
- King Ahab called 400 prophets together who gave a favorable answer to the question of whether or not to enter into battle against Ramoth Gilead, but King Jehoshaphat obviously wasn’t satisfied with their answer. He wanted to answer from a “prophet of the Lord”. Why do you think he mistrusted King Ahab’s prophets?
- Reread verse 23. Micaiah, a true prophet of the Lord, gave a different answer to King Ahab’s question from his other 400 “prophets”. Tell which prophet/prophetess you think was telling the truth from God and why. We should always go to the source of truth for answers to our questions. God is our source of truth.
