Read 2 Samuel 4
Think About It:
- Ishbosheth felt secure in his position only as long as Abner was alive. His courage came from man rather than from God. Because of this, when Abner died, Ishbosheth was left with nothing. When in a crisis and under pressure, he collapsed in fear. How can we rise above fear and overcome it so that we can respond boldly when we are under pressure in a crisis?
- Why would David want everyone to know that he was not involved in the extermination of Saul’s son?
Family Time:
- What promise had David and Jonathan made to one another?
- Why was Mephibosheth afraid of King David?
(Mephibosheth was afraid for his life, so he hid for many years. He didn’t want King David to know that he was still alive.)
- Why was King David kind to Mephibosheth?
- Showing kindness doesn’t have to be huge things that make the headlines in the newspaper. No, it’s the everyday things that we do for one another. Each time we show kindness in God’s name, we make God smile.
- What is one way you can show kindness to someone this week?
