Read 1 Samuel 23
Think About It:
- Why did the people bring a plea for help to David and not to King Saul?
- Why did David inquire of the LORD a second time in verse 4?
- Do you see anything wrong with Saul saying, “Blessed are you of the LORD” to the Ziphites?
Family Time:
- Whenever David had a question about what to do, who did he ask for the answer?
- How often did Saul try to find David? (verse 14)
- Once more, we see Jonathan reaching out to David. In verse 17, what does he do? What does he speak to David about the future?
- Do you have a friend going through hard times that you could reach out to and encourage by reminding them of God’s promises and plans? (If so, do it today!)
- Was Saul successful in capturing and killing David? Why do you think this was?
God’s word is sure. His plans are secure. God had already chosen David to be the next King, and though many things came against him, “no weapon formed against him would prosper”. He was safe in God’s plan and protection.
- The same is true for us. Hold on to God’s word. What are His promises? What is His word to you? Keep your eyes fixed on Him and know that one day, you will see every promise fulfilled. Until then, He will keep those loyal to Him safe in His hands. Praise Jesus!!!
