Read 1 Samuel 14
Think About It:
- Jonathan left his decisions up to God in verses 9-10. Do you trust the Lord in this way? If so, think of some specific situations where this has happened. How did it turn out?
- Should Jonathan have been held accountable for Saul’s oath since he wasn’t there to hear it?
- Have you ever made an oath or promise that backfired? Explain. Did you keep your oath?
Family Time:
- So here they are…the Israelite army is afraid, and many are hiding. They are overwhelmed by their enemies…. Where was Saul? How many men were with him?
- Read verse 6 again. Why was Jonathan so brave to go to the Philistines camp? What did he believe God could do?
- Does God need huge armies, really smart people, strong men, etc. to accomplish His plan and do great things? God wants our faith. He can use anyone who is willing!! (Even children!)
- Jonathan believed God, and then went forward, making sure He was doing what God wanted…and then he fought with victory.
- What did the other soldiers do when they saw the Philistines being scattered? (verse 22)
- Who won the battle that day? (verse 23) Pray for more faith in your lives!
