Read Ruth 4
Think About It:
- The protective character of a godly man—Boaz was willing to see that Ruth had provision and protection even if it meant she might belong to someone else. Are you willing to take your hands off of your own life circumstances and trust God with the outcome?
- Can you understand why Boaz still showed wisdom while taking the risk of marrying a woman of pagan heritage? (Look back at chapter 2:11 and 3:11 for insight.)
Family Time:
- Did the closest relative to Elimelech want to marry Ruth? (verse 6) What was the old custom that this relative and Boaz did to show they had made a deal? (verse 7)
- Naomi was not afflicted after all. What started out as a sad story turns out to be a reason to rejoice. Naomi’s land had been redeemed. Through Ruth’s marriage to Boaz and their children, she would be provided for. Have you ever had a bad situation that has turned out to be good?
