Read Ruth 2
Think About It:
- It says in Ecclesiastes 9:10, “Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with all your might…”. Do you work so hard that it gets noticed? Do you work hard even when it’s something you don’t enjoy, or don’t want to do?
- How often do you go out of your way to make sure the less fortunate are provided for, above and beyond what God asks for?
Family Time:
- ‘Glean’ meant to gather harvest that had been missed or left behind. The law was to leave the corners and whatever was left after the first cutting for widows, orphans and strangers (foreigners) to gather. Gleaning was hard work. Was Ruth a hard worker? (verse 7)
- Ruth had good character – she converted from idol worship to following God, she was loyal to Naomi, she was humble, she worked hard, she was selfless (holding back her lunch for Naomi). Because of her character she was blessed. How many blessings can you find in this chapter for Ruth? What would have happened if Ruth had bad character? What kind of character do you have?
