Read Judges 4
Think About It:
- When the judge, Ehud, died, what was the result of “doing evil in the sight of the Lord”? What does “sold” them into the hand of King Jabin mean? Have you ever been “sold” into the hand of someone or something? What happened when you cried out to the Lord?
- The Lord spoke to the prophetess and judge, Deborah. (Miriam, Moses’ sister was the first to be called a prophetess.) How did Barak react to hearing about His words? How did Deborah react to Barak?
- Who did she say the Lord would “sell” Sisera into the hand of? What did Barak miss from this? His “work” didn’t get the glory.
- The Israelites had been under King Jabin’s rule for about 20 years and never overcame his army lead by Sisera. What was different about this battle with Sisera? When he escaped, where did he go and what happened to him at the hand of the woman, Jael?
Family Time:
- How many chariots did Sisera have?
- What woman judged Israel?
- How was Sisera killed?
