Read Joshua 2
Think About It:
- The spies received help from an unlikely woman, Rahab. Because she was accustomed to visits from strange men, this made the spies presence less suspicious. Did her position in society stop her from believing that God could use her?
- Why did she take them in? She was risking her life to help them. What contract did the spies make with her?
- Even though the city and everyone in it were destroyed, Rahab and her family were saved by her faith. Hebrews 11:31. The Israelites welcomed her into their community. As a result, she is included in the genealogy of Christ, Matthew 1:5. Have you ever felt like the mistakes you’ve made will keep you from being used by God?
Family Time:
Rahab was not one of the chosen people of God. She was one of Israel’s enemies. But she had heard of the power and miracles of God and recognized Him as the one true God. She believed in Him. She helped the spies sent to her city.
- Why do you think she helped the spies?
- Rahab was not a good woman. She lived a life of sinfulness. Why do you think that God would make it so a person like Rahab would help His people?
- If you are in sin or have done something wrong, will God still love you and use you in His plans?
Read Joshua 1:9.
Remember God will never forsake you or leave you even if you go into sin. He will be there to forgive you, love you, and welcome you back to Him if you ask Him.
