Read Deuteronomy 10
Think About It:
- God’s plans for the Israelites did not change and His will for you will never change. In Deuteronomy 10, Moses is instructed to re-make the tablets of the ten commandments and lead the people into the Promised Land. Consider the plan He has for your life – what do you think He has called and gifted you to do? Make a list of the things you love to do and the gifts you feel God has given you.
- God’s request for us remains the same (verses 12-13). “What does the LORD ask of you but to fear the LORD your God, to walk in all His ways, to love Him, to serve the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul, and to observe the LORD’s commands and decrees that I am giving you today for your own good.” When we disregard the man-made rules and focus on what God asks of us, life is simpler. Think of some areas where we make it more complicated than the verses above. Focus on what God asks of you.
- Looking at verses 16-21, God shows us He wants our hearts sensitive to His leading. He shares His heart with us and asks us to follow His example, remembering what we have seen Him do in our lifetime. Write down some of the things He has done for you throughout your life. He is making a testimony of your life as He leads you through to victory in each circumstance. As we remember these things, our faith increases.
Family Time:
- Which tribe did God designate to minister to the other tribes?
Verse 12 says to “fear the Lord your God.” Does this mean we should be afraid of God, or does fear have another meaning?
