Read Genesis 22
Think About It:
- God proved Abraham, not to draw him to sin as Satan attempts, but to exercise his faith. What does Abraham’s obedience say about his faith?
- Are you willing to part with an “Isaac” in your life? (Whatever is dearest to us is our Isaac.)
- Do you believe it was God’s intention that Isaac be sacrificed?
Family Time:
Abraham was a real person like you and me. He loved his only son Isaac. He also loved God. He knew who God was. He knew how to trust God fully because he saw God’s faithfulness in the past. Verse 5 says WE will come back to you. Abraham already knew he could trust God’s plan. He remembered God’s promise to make him a great nation.
What would it be like to trust God like that? How would it feel? What could you do or accomplish for the Kingdom if you trusted God like Abraham?
God’s word is full of examples for us to believe and follow so we can have this kind of faith. They are not just stories. These people were real.
PARENTS: Do your children see this kind of faith lived out in your life like Isaac saw in his father? Why not?
KIDS: Do your younger siblings or friends see this kind of faith in your life? Why not?
