Read Genesis 21
Think About It:
- What is revealed about God in making Abraham and Sarah wait so long for His promise to be fulfilled?
- What’s the spiritual condition of Sarah versus Abraham in their response to Ishmael and Hagar? Why do you think God responded the way he did?
Family Time:
- (Genesis 21:1-21) God keeps His promises. Sarah laughed at God, but He was still faithful. Everyone would have known that Sarah was rebuked for her laughter. Ishmael should have known better than to laugh at Isaac. Here is a reason to study God’s Word daily and know who God is. We can learn from the examples in God’s Word how to have godly character – and the consequences of not learning the lessons we are taught.
Have you ever failed to learn a lesson? What were the consequences?
- (Genesis 21:22-34) Abraham kept his word. Abraham and Abimelech made a covenant. They kept the peace and everyone was blessed with a water source.
Think about a time you kept your word. What were the results? What were the results when you did not keep your word?
